Sabres Unveil Pride Night Crest Designed by Adam Weekley |
Buffalo artist's creation to highlight team's commitment to inclusivity |
The Buffalo Sabres have revealed a vibrant new crest for their upcoming Pride Night, crafted by local artist Adam Weekley.
This unveiling marks the second installment in the team's collaboration with the Buffalo AKG Art Museum as part of the ongoing "Community Artist Series."
Weekley, originally from Parkersburg, West Virginia, relocated to Buffalo in 2001 to pursue graduate studies at the University at Buffalo.
Reflecting on his journey, he remarked, "Buffalo has a way of really getting its hooks in you."
He emphasized the city's art community as "incredibly supportive and accessible," qualities that deeply influenced his design process.
The newly designed crest features a dynamic buffalo charging through crossed sabres, each adorned with flags: the Progress Pride Flag on the left and a traditional rainbow flag on the right.
A disco ball serves as the backdrop, adding a touch of levity and nodding to Buffalo's renowned event, The World's Largest Disco.
Weekley aimed for the design to resonate universally while holding particular significance for the LGBTQIA+ community.
"I wanted the design to appeal to everyone, but maybe feel particularly meaningful to the people in the community who it was designed for," he stated.
The Sabres will don practice jerseys featuring Weekley's design during their Pride Night game against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at the KeyBank Center.
These jerseys will be displayed in the concourse and auctioned off, with proceeds benefiting local LGBTQIA+ organizations.
The auction will commence at 7 p.m. on game night and conclude on January 11 at 9 p.m.
Additionally, merchandise featuring the new crest will be available for purchase at the Sabres Store during the event.
Tickets for Pride Night are currently on sale, offering fans an opportunity to support inclusivity and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community alongside the team.
