Buffalo has no shortage of fall traditions, but this Halloween season brings a different kind of haunting to the concert hall.

Ghostbusters in Concert arrives at the UB Center for the Arts on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 7:30 p.m.

The 1984 comedy will play on a large screen while a live orchestra performs Elmer Bernstein’s score alongside the film.

That combination promises more than a nostalgic movie night: every eerie entrance and perfectly timed joke gets a musical lift.

For families introducing younger viewers to the ghost-catching crew, it is a chance to share a familiar story in an unfamiliar way.

Longtime fans, meanwhile, can hear the score take center stage without losing the film’s scrappy humor or big-screen thrills.

The celebration begins before the opening scene.

Starting an hour before showtime, the Buffalo Ghostbusters will take over the center’s atrium with film-inspired displays and photo opportunities.

Replica vehicles, proton packs and other props will give guests plenty to explore before they find their seats.

The local fan group has also used its love of the franchise to support charitable causes across Western New York.

That community connection makes the takeover feel especially at home in Buffalo, where a good costume often comes with a good cause.

Guests are encouraged to dress up, whether their look calls for a jumpsuit, a ghostly disguise or something entirely original.

Arriving early matters if seeing the displays is part of the plan; the atrium festivities begin at 6:30 p.m.

For anyone sorting through Halloween events Buffalo NY has to offer, this outing pairs a full film screening with live performance.

It is an appealing option for friends who want a seasonal night out without waiting until Halloween weekend.

Ticket options and discounts vary, so attendees should confirm current availability with the box office before making plans.

On UB’s North Campus, a movie favorite becomes a shared Buffalo-area experience for one October night.
