Ride with Us: Niagara Frontier Bicycle Club Welcomes New Members |
The oldest cycling club in the Buffalo region continues to expand. |
For over five decades, the Niagara Frontier Bicycle Club (NFBC) has been a cornerstone of Western New York's cycling community.
Established in 1969, NFBC stands as the region's oldest cycling club, continually growing and evolving.
In a landscape rich with cycling options, NFBC offers a unique blend of structured yet welcoming group rides.
With a season running from mid-March through October, the club organizes daily rides across multiple counties, including Erie, Niagara, and even into Canada.
Rides vary from 15 to 100 miles, catering to cyclists of all skill levels.
Each ride is clearly rated—from easy to "insanely difficult"—ensuring participants know what to expect.
Designated ride leaders provide route details and help organize groups based on pace, fostering a sense of community and safety.
Starting points are scattered throughout the region, including Lancaster, Clarence, Orchard Park, Tonawanda, Amherst, and downtown Buffalo.
This structure allows members to find both their pace and their people.
Some groups maintain a brisk rhythm, while others prefer a more relaxed ride to enjoy the scenery.
Beyond the miles, NFBC offers a strong social component.
Members frequently gather for post-ride tailgates, weekend breakfast rides, and annual events like the Cider Ride and Fall Trash & Treasure.
Signature rides, such as the Kazoo Ride passing through Eden, N.Y., and the annual trip to Welland, Ontario, have become local traditions, blending challenge with camaraderie.
What sets NFBC apart is not just the frequency of rides, but the diversity of routes.
With over 1,000 unique routes, members regularly discover new and unexpected corners of the area—quiet country roads, lakeside stretches, and cross-border adventures.
For those looking to ride more, explore more, and connect with a community of dedicated cyclists, NFBC is open for membership and always ready to roll.
