Meet Mac: Buffalo Sabres' New Dog Training to Be a Service Animal |
Mac, the Sabres' latest team dog, embarks on a journey to assist a local veteran. |
The Buffalo Sabres have proudly introduced Mac, a 10-week-old Newfoundland, as their official team dog for the 2025-26 season.
Mac is currently undergoing training to become a service dog through the Pawsitive for Heroes program, an initiative by WNY Heroes that provides service dogs to veterans with service-related disabilities.
As part of his training, Mac will attend select home games and interact with fans, helping him acclimate to various environments and social settings.
Once his training is complete, Mac will be paired with a local veteran, offering companionship and assistance tailored to the veteran's needs.
Mac follows in the pawsteps of previous team dogs like Audie, Blue, Nikki, and Rick, all of whom have successfully transitioned to serving veterans in the community.
Fans can look forward to seeing Mac at upcoming games and events, supporting both the Sabres and the veteran community.
