Help wanted at new Highmark Stadium

Legends Global is hoping to hire 500 workers

The new Highmark Stadium is gearing up for its grand opening, and with it comes a significant employment opportunity for the Buffalo community. Legends Global, the firm managing the stadium's concessions and retail operations, is on a mission to hire 500 workers to staff over 50 outlets within the $2.2 billion facility.

To meet this ambitious goal, Legends Global has scheduled a job fair on June 15, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Kaleida Health Sports Performance Center on One Bills Drive. The event aims to fill a diverse range of positions, including front-line servers, back-of-house staff, and roles within luxury and club suites.

Michael Reilly, the general manager for Legends Global at Highmark Stadium, emphasized the importance of these roles in enhancing the fan experience. "Our job is to keep the fans happy," Reilly stated. He also highlighted that the opportunities extend beyond game days, encompassing special and private events hosted at the stadium. "You could turn this into a career," Reilly added, underscoring the potential for long-term employment.

This marks Legends Global's most extensive venture in the Buffalo Niagara region to date. While they have managed the Bills Store on Abbott Road for the past three years, overseeing operations at the new stadium presents a larger challenge. Reilly acknowledged the heightened expectations, stating, "We really enjoy the pressure that comes with running this building. We are built for that."

In preparation, Reilly and his team have explored the region's renowned restaurants to ensure the stadium's offerings reflect local flavors. "We've been to all the greatest hits," he noted, indicating a commitment to delivering a top-notch culinary experience.

As for the recruitment drive, Reilly remains optimistic. "A lot of people have already reached out," he mentioned, expressing confidence in meeting the 500-worker target. The job fair is open to candidates aged 18 and older, providing a substantial opportunity for those interested in contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of the new Highmark Stadium.
