Damar Hamlin to Emcee Second Annual Home Run Derby at Innovative Field

Rochester's baseball enthusiasts are in for a treat as the second annual Vision Auto Group Home Run Derby returns to Innovative Field on September 30.

This year's event promises an exciting lineup, featuring local high school and college players, along with beloved community figures, all vying to hit the most home runs within a set timeframe.

Adding to the excitement, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin will serve as the event's emcee.

Hamlin is also slated to distribute prizes and participate in a meet-and-greet session with fans.

His involvement holds special significance, given his remarkable recovery from a cardiac arrest incident during a game in January 2023.

Since then, Hamlin has become a prominent advocate for CPR training and heart health awareness.

In a statement, Dan Mason, General Manager of the Rochester Red Wings, expressed enthusiasm for the event, calling it "a fantastic way to conclude the amateur baseball season and highlight emerging talent."

Admission to the derby is free, with tickets available in advance at Vision Auto Group dealerships throughout the Rochester area.

Organizers recommend arriving early, as the first 1,000 attendees will receive a complimentary hot dog and ice cream sandwich.

Gates open at 5:30 p.m., with the derby commencing at 6 p.m.

The event is designed to be a family-friendly celebration, offering an enjoyable evening for all ages.

As September draws to a close, Rochester continues to buzz with community events.

Just days before the Home Run Derby, the city will host the fourth annual MVP Fall Fest on September 27 at Parcel 5.

This free, family-friendly festival features activities such as pumpkin decorating, inflatables, a petting zoo, and the popular "Little Kids and Big Rigs" program, where children can explore various vehicles, including fire trucks and construction equipment.

Additionally, the ROC the Riverway Weekend is set for September 26–28, celebrating the revitalization of the Genesee River waterfront with boat cruises, guided bike rides, and historical tours.
