Buffalo, New York to Host 2026 NHL Draft in June

KeyBank Center to Welcome Hockey's Future Stars on June 26-27

The National Hockey League has officially announced that the 2026 NHL Draft will take place at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York, on June 26 and 27.

This marks the fourth time Buffalo has hosted the draft, following events in 1991, 1998, and 2016.

Notably, this will be the first time the draft is held in its decentralized format at an arena, a change introduced last year.

In this new format, while the draft stage and celebrations will be in Buffalo, team representatives will make their selections remotely from their respective cities.

However, the picks will be announced live at the podium in Buffalo, often by special guests or celebrities.

Fans are eagerly anticipating the return of this prestigious event to Western New York.

“I look forward to both the atmosphere and significance of hosting the NHL Draft in Buffalo,” said Terry Pegula, owner and president of the Buffalo Sabres.

“Being able to share in that excitement with our fans and fans around the league is a unique opportunity.”

The draft is expected to draw approximately 100 top prospects and their families to Buffalo, utilizing an estimated 2,200 hotel rooms and generating millions in economic impact for the region.

In addition to the draft, Buffalo will host the NHL Draft Scouting Combine at LECOM Harborcenter, continuing its tradition since 2015.

Fans should note that tickets for the NHL Draft are not yet available.

Those interested can sign up to receive ticketing information as it becomes available.

In addition to the draft, Buffalo will be bustling with events in June 2026.

On June 26, the same day as the draft's first round, the 25th Anniversary Taste of Country concert will take place at Sahlen Field, featuring performances by Luke Bryan and Jordan Davis.

Earlier in the month, on June 13, the New York State Craft Brewers Festival will return to Canalside, offering attendees a chance to sample brews from over 50 breweries across the state.

With such a vibrant lineup of events, June 2026 is shaping up to be an exciting month for Buffalo residents and visitors alike.
