Buffalo Residents Express Frustration Over Snow-Covered Streets

Buffalo residents are voicing their dissatisfaction with the city's snow removal efforts as heavy snowfall continues to blanket the area.

 

Many locals report that their streets remain unplowed, making daily commutes and essential travel challenging.

 

One driver lamented, "Some of the side streets they don't touch; they touch once a year maybe."

 

The Department of Public Works (DPW) asserts that crews are working tirelessly, deploying over 170 pieces of equipment to combat the relentless snowfall.

 

Mayor Sean M. Ryan praised the DPW's response, stating, "Snowstorms are a basic test of whether city government is working, and Buffalo passed that test today."

 

To enhance transparency, the city offers an interactive snowplow map, allowing residents to monitor plowing progress in real-time.

 

Streets plowed within the last six hours are marked green, those plowed between six to twelve hours ago are blue, and streets not plowed in over 24 hours appear red.

 

Despite these efforts, some residents remain skeptical.

 

North Buffalo resident Brian Weick observed, "I get here this morning and they've got all these front loaders cleaning up the street. Our taxpayer dollars are at work."

 

In response to ongoing concerns, the Buffalo Common Council encourages residents to share feedback on snow removal services.
