In Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood, Halloween plans are taking shape for dogs with costumes and people eager to show them off.

The 2026 Halloween pup strut invites families to explore Allen Street on Saturday, October 24, between noon and 3 p.m.

It has the playful spirit of a Halloween dog parade, but participants can set their own pace rather than follow a scheduled procession.

That flexibility should appeal to anyone whose pup needs a break between sidewalk greetings, treats and photos.

Participants start at Buffalo Barkery, 47 Allen Street, where they can check in and pick up an event bag and guide.

The guide outlines participating businesses, photo opportunities and other details for the afternoon’s walk.

Registration costs $15 per registrant, and signing up ahead of time is encouraged for a quicker check-in.

From there, costumed visitors can wander among local shops and restaurants while collecting Halloween treats for pups and humans.

Festive photo spots and specialty offerings from neighborhood businesses add reasons to linger along Allen Street.

Every registrant is also entered in a giveaway, and adoptable dogs are expected to join the celebration.

For families weighing Buffalo Halloween dog parade options, this walk offers the fun of a crowd without requiring a rigid route.

The sweetest moments may be the unplanned ones: a patient pup posing for a picture or neighbors stopping to admire a homemade costume.

The event also gives small businesses a chance to welcome residents who might otherwise hurry past their doors.

That neighborhood connection is what makes local dog costume events feel like more than a contest for the cleverest outfit.

Costumes are part of the fun for both people and pets, whether the look is elaborate or simply comfortable for a walk.

Unlike a traditional parade, the afternoon leaves room to explore at your dog’s speed.

Bring the family, prepare for plenty of photos and give your pup a chance to enjoy Allentown’s Halloween spirit.
