2026 Spooky Porches of Allentown & the Spooky Allentown Festival |
A New Tradition in One of Buffalo's Most Historic Districts |

Halloween porch decorations are turning Buffalo’s Allentown neighborhood into a destination for anyone who likes their fall walks a little spooky.
From October 5 through October 31, the second year of Spooky Porches Allentown will invite residents to dress up their front steps.
The Allentown Association is organizing the monthlong celebration, giving neighbors room to interpret Halloween in their own way.
Expect porches that lean creepy, playful or thoughtful, rather than one predictable row of jack-o’-lanterns.
That personal touch is the real draw, especially in a neighborhood where a short stroll already offers plenty to notice.
Last year’s participants competed for prizes, while an interactive map helped visitors find decorated porches around the neighborhood.
Residents are now being encouraged to plan their 2026 displays, though this year’s prizes and map have not been announced.
The celebration builds toward the Spooky Allentown Festival on Saturday, October 24, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Activities are planned for the green space at 169 Allen Street, adding a gathering place to the porch-viewing experience.
Families can look forward to face painting and live art, with tarot readings offering a different kind of seasonal fun.
Local vendors will join the festivities, and The Spotted Octopus is expected to provide beer during a social hour.
For visitors, the festival offers a chance to enjoy Halloween without limiting the outing to a single activity.
The bigger story is what happens beyond the festival grounds, as neighbors make the streets themselves part of the celebration.
Allentown’s historic character gives those decorations a setting that feels distinctly Buffalo, not like a pop-up attraction.
Among Buffalo’s Halloween festivals, this one puts the creativity of local residents front and center.
A porch can make someone laugh, pause or take a closer look, all without a ticket or a crowded schedule.
October evenings can feel especially inviting when neighbors give one another a reason to get outside.
Anyone planning a visit can pair the October 24 festival with a walk through Allentown’s decorated blocks.
For residents, it is a chance to help shape the season right outside their own front doors. |
