Annual event honors outstanding contributions of university community members |
The University at Buffalo (UB) community is set to gather on October 29 to honor the remarkable achievements of its faculty and staff at the 22nd annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence.
The ceremony will commence at 3:30 p.m. in Slee Hall on the North Campus.
Graham Hammill, senior vice provost for faculty affairs and dean of the Graduate School, will serve as the event's emcee.
In his words, "This celebration reflects the strength of our university community."
He further emphasized that the honorees "embody the dedication and scholarly distinction that drive UB’s excellence."
President Satish K. Tripathi will deliver the welcome address, followed by remarks from Provost A. Scott Weber.
The ceremony will recognize faculty and staff across several categories, including:
National and International Awards: Honors acknowledged as prestigious by the Center for Measuring University Performance, the National Research Council, and UB’s academic deans.
SUNY Distinguished Faculty: Recognition of faculty members who have achieved distinction in their respective fields.
SUNY Chancellor’s Awards: Including the Horizon Award for Faculty Research and Scholarship, and Awards for Excellence.
UB Inventor and Entrepreneur Awards: Celebrating innovation and entrepreneurial spirit within the university community.
UB Distinguished Professor: Acknowledging faculty who have made significant contributions to their disciplines.
Service Milestones: Honoring individuals marking 50 and 60 years of service at UB.
Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to a reception in the Slee Hall lobby.
Details about this year's honorees, along with other research, teaching, and mentoring awards received by faculty and staff during 2025, are available on the Celebration of Academic Excellence website.
