'I’d say it's worth it': New coffee chain causes traffic jams in Amherst |
Your new favorite coffee, served with a side of traffic |
The arrival of 7 Brew Coffee at the intersection of Maple Road and North Bailey Avenue in Amherst has stirred up more than just beverages.
Since its opening, the drive-thru-only coffee stand has led to significant traffic congestion, with vehicles often lining up into the street.
Local resident Ann Raderman expressed her concerns, noting the unexpected sight of cars parked in the middle of the road and describing the situation as a traffic hazard.
She believes the location choice was poor, given the already busy intersection and the potential for worsening conditions once nearby developments open.
Amherst Town Supervisor Shawn Lavin acknowledged the safety concerns posed by the lingering traffic in the center lane but also recognized the business's popularity as a positive sign for the community.
Despite the traffic issues, many customers find the wait worthwhile.
Customer Lucia Liberti mentioned that the line appeared long but moved quickly, while Kamryn Krezmein felt the wait was worth it.
The coffee chain has gained traction on social media, particularly among younger patrons.
Five teenagers from East Aurora drove to Amherst specifically to try the trending drinks, citing their popularity on platforms like TikTok.
7 Brew staff members are actively directing traffic in and out of the driveway, taking orders once customers pull into the lot.
While the local manager was unavailable for comment, 7 Brew has confirmed plans to open additional drive-thru locations in Hamburg, Niagara Falls, Lockport, and other surrounding communities.
As the brand continues to expand, addressing traffic management will be crucial to ensure both customer satisfaction and community safety. |
