IceCycle raises over $900K to support cancer research at Roswell Park |
Thousands gathered at Buffalo RiverWorks for two days of cycling classes on the ice, all supporting cancer research at Roswell Park. |
The sixth annual IceCycle event at Buffalo RiverWorks has once again demonstrated the unwavering commitment of the Western New York community to combat cancer.
Over the course of two days, more than 1,500 participants braved the cold to engage in cycling sessions on the ice, collectively raising over $900,000 for the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. This remarkable achievement brings the total funds raised by IceCycle since its inception in 2021 to more than $3.5 million, directly supporting critical cancer research and patient care programs. The event featured nine 45-minute cycling classes, including three themed rides: 'In Our Swiftie Era,' 'Glow Ride ft. Kodat’s MawshFit Experience,' and the newly introduced 'Patient & Survivor Hope Ride.' These sessions were led by instructors from local fitness studios, fostering a sense of unity and purpose among participants. Each rider committed to raising a minimum of $200, with many surpassing this goal, reflecting the community's dedication to the cause. The event also included 'Fitness Off the Ice' classes, allowing non-cyclists to contribute to the fundraising efforts. Mackenzie Giancarlo, IceCycle Director, expressed profound gratitude for the community's support, stating, "At this event, we’re not only standing in solidarity with patients and survivors, but we’re truly paving the way for new treatments and programs for people facing a cancer diagnosis. That’s because of the incredible funds raised by our dedicated participants." ([yahoo.com](https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/icecycle-raises-over-900k-support-033631098.html?utm_source=openai))
The success of IceCycle 2026 underscores the power of community-driven initiatives in making a tangible impact on cancer research and patient care. As the event continues to grow each year, it serves as a beacon of hope and resilience for those affected by cancer. |
