City of Buffalo and Revelas Family Foundation Unite for Record-Breaking Event Supporting Teen Mental Health |
Buffalo, New York, has once again solidified its reputation as the birthplace of the chicken wing by setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest chicken wing eating competition.
On December 20, 2025, the Buffalo Convention Center buzzed with excitement as 499 participants gathered for the Revelas Family Foundation's annual fundraiser, "A Not So Silent Night."
This festive event aimed to raise awareness and funds for teen mental health programs in Western New York.
The previous record of 397 participants, set by Amazon Web Services in 2018, was surpassed as Buffalonians came together in a spirited display of community and culinary pride.
Competitive eater George Chiger emerged victorious, consuming an impressive 36 wings in just five minutes.
The event was hosted by Drew Cerza, affectionately known as the "Wing King" and founder of the National Buffalo Wing Festival.
Buffalo's Anchor Bar, credited with inventing the iconic Buffalo wing in 1964, continues to inspire such events that celebrate the city's rich culinary heritage.
Proceeds from the competition will benefit Horizon Health Services' Teen Mental Health Program, supporting over 35,000 students, teachers, and parents across more than 40 schools in the region.
This record-breaking event not only showcased Buffalo's love for its signature dish but also highlighted the community's commitment to important social causes. |
