Annual Variety Club Telethon Raises More Than $1 Million |
Donations Support Buffalo’s Golisano Children's Hospital & Other Area Children's Charities |
The 64th Annual Variety Club Telethon has once again demonstrated the remarkable generosity of the Buffalo community, raising over $1 million to support the newly renamed Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo and other local children's charities.
This year's telethon, held on March 21 and 22, 2026, showcased the unwavering commitment of Western New Yorkers to children's health and well-being.
Notably, organized labor played a significant role, contributing more than $75,000 to the cause.
Tony Vaccaro, President of the Variety Club and Business Agent at Teamsters Local 264, expressed his gratitude, stating, "Once again, labor came through and exceeded my expectations."
He emphasized the importance of community support, especially during challenging economic times.
Labor Co-Chair William Mayer of the International Union of Painters & Allied Trades District Council 4 echoed these sentiments, highlighting the collective effort and generosity of the labor community.
The funds raised will directly benefit the Golisano Children's Hospital of Buffalo, which was renamed in January 2026 following a generous $50 million donation from philanthropist Tom Golisano.
This substantial contribution underscores the community's dedication to enhancing pediatric care in the region.
The success of the telethon reflects the enduring spirit of Buffalo's residents and their commitment to supporting children in need.
As the community continues to rally together, the impact of these efforts will be felt by countless families across Western New York. |
